Veneers are a fantastic option for restoring the appearance of your smile and your confidence in it. If you find that a lack of confidence in your smile is holding you back from living the most fulfilling life you can, it’s time to make a change.

What are veneers?

At the most basic level, veneers are simply a very thin layer of porcelain, zirconia, or composite resin that is applied and adhered directly to a prepared tooth surface in order to change the shape, size or color of your natural tooth.

Porcelain or Zirconia Veneers?

One of the most important decisions you will be faced with when getting veneers is what material you would like your veneers to be crafted out of. At South Bay Prosthodontics the choice most often comes down to a preference between zirconia or porcelain. During your initial consultation we are happy to discuss the differences between the two materials, and help you make the right decision for you and your smile.

  • Gapped teeth

What does the veneer process look like?

At South Bay Prosthodontics we take pride in making the process of getting veneers as stress free and approachable as possible. Consultation and exam

During this initial appointment, your esthetic goals and expectations are discussed. Your smile will be physically examined to ensure it is healthy enough for veneers and that they are the most appropriate solution for your concerns.

Preparation

This second appointment is used to prepare your teeth for the application of your veneers. A minimal amount of enamel is removed from the surface of your teeth, and molds are taken in order to fabricate your veneers right here at South Bay Prosthodontics in-house dental laboratory. You will be fitted with temporary veneers before leaving, allowing you to effectively “test-drive” your new smile.

 Final bonding

After your veneers have been crafted by the expert ceramicist right here at South Bay Prosthodontics in-house dental lab, your final appointment will see the final fitting and bonding of your new veneers.

You can expect the entire process of getting your porcelain or zirconia veneers to occur over the course of three appointments. No part of the veneer process should cause you any pain, although some patients may experience post-bonding sensitivity, this is typically short lived and affects very few patients.

What are some benefits of veneers?

Veneers offer a wide range of benefits to patients beyond the increased confidence in your smile.

  • Long-lasting and strong
  • Life-like and natural looking
  • Fracture, chip, and stain resistant
  • Less preparation of the tooth is required than other cosmetic procedures

How long will my veneers last?

With an excellent at-home oral health regimen and regular visits to your dentists for professional cleaning you can expect your veneers to last from 15-20 years! The best part is, there is no special tools or pastes required to care for them. You simply continue using the oral healthcare products you know and trust.

Are veneers right for me?

As long as you are in generally good oral health, and not dealing with any major infections or oral disease, veneers likely make a great choice for you! The South Bay Prosthodontics will include a detailed oral examination as part of their consultation to ensure that veneers are the right fit for you and your lifestyle.

It is important to note that veneers are permanent and irreversible. As part of the preparation involves the removal of enamel from your tooth surface, you will always need veneers covering the prepared teeth in order to protect them. For most, it is likely that their veneers will need to be re-done at some point in their lives.

Are you ready for the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted?
